There are times when in addition to converting a higher proportion
of visitors, it is also advantageous to create new revenue
streams or new products to further leverage that traffic towards
generating profit.
For many clients this may be in creating new revenue streams
from referring visitors to other sites that offer complimentary
products or services. For other clients, this could involve
suggesting new versions of products to address key audiences
that the main product isn't perfectly tailored for.
For one of my major portal clients, I found ways to generate
income from web search made from the site, then added some
new advertising revenue streams, and also developed more cost
efficient ways of delivering some of their services.
Product development covers a lot of different things, but
all involve working closely with the client to either develop
new products and revenue streams, or to enhance the profitability
and appeal of existing products.
Remember, there are many differing ways to increase the overall
sales of any company. We can attract more customers for their
products, we can convert a higher proportion of prospects,
and we can also develop new products for additional sales.
